🌱 The Power of Networks in Growing Something New

When you’re starting a new business venture, the to-do list can feel endless - refining your offer, building your brand, balancing the books. But one thing I’ve been reminded of time and again is this - people open doors that no marketing strategy ever could.

Your network isn’t just about who you know - it’s about the conversations, the introductions, the insights and sometimes the gentle nudges that give you the courage to take the next step.

Since stepping away from a corporate role and into this exciting new opportunity, the generosity of people in my circle has been extraordinary. From sharing advice and fresh perspectives, to connecting me with someone I didn’t even know I needed to meet, these interactions have been invaluable in building momentum and shaping direction.

🔑 Different Models - Same Core: Why Leadership and Coaching Aren’t as Complicated as We Make Them

If you’ve spent any time in the leadership or coaching space, you’ll know there’s no shortage of models, frameworks, and must-follow approaches. Each comes with its own language, diagrams and success stories.

But when you strip them back, the truth is that most of these models share more similarities than differences. At their core, they all tend to focus on a few timeless elements:

  • Clarity of purpose – knowing where you’re headed

  • Connection – building trust and strong relationships

  • Curiosity – asking the right questions to unlock thinking and growth

  • Commitment – turning ideas into action and accountability

When leaders and coaches spend too much energy debating the differences between models, it can actually slow progress. We risk getting caught in the which framework is the best trap, rather than focusing on the principles that really drive change.

The opportunity lies in leaning into the common ground. When we focus on the shared elements, we can adapt faster, flex our style to the situation, and create meaningful impact without overcomplicating things.

At The Leadership CoLab, we encourage leaders to see models not as the destination, but as useful tools to help us navigate situations. It’s not about choosing one framework for life, it’s about recognising the common threads and applying them in ways that work for your people, your context, and your challenges.

💬 What’s been your experience? Have you noticed the similarities across different leadership or coaching approaches? And what do you think are the non-negotiable elements that matter most?
